Holiday on Horseback, Banff
Holiday on Horseback is operated by Warner Guiding & Outfitting and offers a variety of guided tours and packrides on horseback in Banff National Park. There are trail rides available for people of all horse-riding abilities, from novice to advanced.
Day rides
Daily in-town trail rides can range from 1 hour to a full day, following routes in and around the Banff town site along the Bow River, Sulphur Mountain or Mount Rundle. For something a bit more special, try a ride to 3 Mile Cabin on the Mountain Morning Breakfast Ride, the Lone Rider trip to the Sundance Lodge for lunch, a Covered Wagon Cookout or the Evening Trailride/steakfry for BBQ steak dinner made to order.
Warner Stables also offers parent-led pony rides at the stables for children unable or too young to ride for a full hour.
Wilderness Tenting Trips & Adventure Expeditions
Experience the true back country wilderness of Banff National Park on a 4, 5 or 6 day interpretive ride in the Cascade Valley and stay in spacious A-frame tents at three camp sites on the trail circuit.
For the true outdoor enthusiasts, there are also Adventure Expeditions that feature more challenging and rugged trips where new camps are established daily on an expedition penetrates further into the mountains. The Adventure Expeditions visit isolated areas of Banff National Park that few have an opportunity to experience, and travel mountain passes and valleys that are of unsurpassed beauty.
Lodge rides
2 to 6 day trail rides into the back country are available, with days spent riding and exploring evenings spent at the cozy Sundance Lodge and Halfway Lodge
Carriage rides
For that extra special tip to Banff, why not book a horsedrawn carriage tour of downtown Banff? Tours can vary from a 15-minute tour to a full customized tour with your choice of pick up and drop off locations, duration and number of passengers.
Wedding Carriage packages are also offered.
Sleigh rides
A perfect way for couples and families to experience the winter wonderland of Banff in the snow. Snow conditions permitting, 45-minute sleighrides leave the Warner Stables on Sundance Road hourly, 7 days a week during winter.
Location
Most of the trail rides operate from the Spray River Corral near the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel or the Warner Stables on Sundance Road (off Cave Avenue). For more information, call at the Trail Rider Store at 132 Banff Avenue.
