Banff Gondola

The Banff Gondola terminal is located at the end of Mountain Avenue, just 5 minutes from the Town of Banff. From there you can take an 8-minute ride in one of the four-person gondola cabins to the summit of Sulphur Mountain at an elevation of 2,281m (7,486 ft) above sea level.

At the summit is a visitor complex that includes restaurants, a gift shop and outdoor observation decks. There are spectacular views in every direction and a self-guided 1km interpretive boardwalk leads along Sulphur Mountain's summit ridge to the Cosmic Ray Station National Historic Site of Canada, and the historic Sanson's Peak Meteorological Station.

There are also other hiking trails, including the South East Ridge Trail that runs along the ridge of the mountain to the south, leading to Sulphur Mountain’s true summit.

The Banff Gondola terminal on Mountain Avenue is easily accessible by car, and the Banff Public Transit bus route runs from various locations in Banff and stops at the entrance. You could also combine a visit to the the Banff Upper Hot Springs which is also nearby.
