HI-Banff Alpine Centre, BanffPart of the Hostelling International-Canada network, the HI-Banff Alpine Centre hostel offers a range of options for the budget-conscious traveller, from four to six bed dorms, to standard private rooms with double bed, or the more luxurious superior private rooms with queen bed, ensuite washroom, TV and telephone. Recent additions also include separate log cabins that can sleep up to five persons, and with each having ensuite bathrooms, its own TV, fireplace and telephone, they are ideal for those seeking a little more privacy. Banff Alpine Centre's common areas include two spacious guest kitchens, two comfortable lounges with fireplaces and a lookout deck with views of the mountains. The hostel's own pub and gamehouse, the Storm Cellar, is a great place to meet new friends over a beer, and has free pool, darts and foosball. Cougar Pete's Kitchen and Lookout, the hostel's full-service restaurant, offers affordable meals all day and is a popular spot for breakfast. From the hostel's location on Tunnel Mountain Road, it is a 20-minute walk downhill into downtown Banff, but Banff's public transit bus also stops nearby and runs every 40 minutes into downtown Banff and back again from early morning until late evening. The HI-Banff Alpine Centre is an extremely popular hostel, so early reservations are recommended, particularly in summer months. Facilities and highlights:
