History
The Tony Roma's concept started from a single location in North Miami, Florida on January 20, 1972, where Tony Roma and
his chef David Smith tried out a new dish of Baby Back Ribs. The experiment was an overwhelming success, with people
travelling from far and wide to sample Tony Roma's Ribs. Indeed, Clint Murchison, Jr., the Texas financier and then-owner
of the Dallas Cowboys was so impressed when he visited Miami for the Superbowl in 1976, he acquired the majority of the US
franchise rights, starting a global roll-out of Tony Roma's locations, which today, has reached over 260 restaurants on
five continents.
