Ticino Restaurant, Banff

Widely considered to be one of Banff's finer restaurants, Ticino's menu highlights include Swiss Cheese Fondue, Mixed Green Salad with Air-Dried Beef, Wild Mushroom Cream Soup, Venison Medallions, and for desert, Swiss Chocolate Fondue.

The alpine theme extends to the restaurant decor, with an oversized cowbell suspended from the ceiling, and maps and images of Switzerland's Ticino region adorning the walls.

There is a small bar area that is good for after-dinner drinks, with an unobtrusive muted TV for catching the latest sports scores.

Breakfast can be served for groups of 20 or more people, subject to booking 48 hours in advance.

History
Ticino is one of Banff's longest-established restaurants, having first been located on Wolf Street in 1974, before moving to its current spot on Banff Avenue in March 1995. The restaurant's menu is inspired by the cuisine of Ticino, Switzerland's southernmost province, south of the Alps, which borders on Italy.
