Melissa's Restaurant, Bar & Patio, Banff

Completed in 1930, Melissa's building is a Banff landmark in itself, with its rustic log interior and Tudor-style timber and stucco exterior, its is an architectural remnant of the Banff of yesteryear.

Melissa's serves breakfast from 7am to 11:30am, offering a varied menu ranging from hearty cooked dishes such as steak and eggs, to light continental options such as muffins and bagels. Many visitors choose to start their day at Melissa's as an alternative to a hotel breakfast.

Similarly busy for lunch and dinner, Melissa's fare includes sandwiches, salads, steaks, fish and seafood, chicken, burgers, pasta and pizza. Indeed, such is Melissa's popularity, it's not unusual to find a line of people waiting for a table to become available. For large groups and families, booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.

Melissa's also has a bar upstairs on the second floor that has satellite TVs, darts, pool table and a daily Happy Hour from 4:30 to 7pm. Free snacks such as popcorn are available and the bar food menu offers excellent value. Weather permitting, food and drinks can also be enjoyed on Melissa's outdoor patio area.

Above all, Melissa's is fun and the food is good, and no trip to Banff is complete without a visit.

History of the building
Melissa's is located next to Banff's Homestead Inn. The original Homestead Hotel was built by John Locke as a temperance house between 1913 and 1919, and sold in 1919 to local businessman David M. Soole. Soole subsequently built the Homestead Restaurant and Tavern as an addition to the Hotel in 1930 to meet demand from Banff's growing visitor numbers at the time. The building housing Melissa's is the only part of the original Homestead Hotel that remains today.
