Coyotes Southwestern Grill, Banff

Coyotes Southwestern Grill
Locally owned and operated since 1993, Coyotes is a popular restaurant on Caribou Street, just off Banff Avenue.

Owners Trudy Allan and Kathy Johnson have made this small space into one of Banff's busiest spots for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The cozy dining area fills quickly but never feels overcrowded, and the open kitchen concept adds to the bustling atmosphere and ensures that the room is always filled with amazing food aromas. Like the decor, the cuisine at Coyotes has echoes of the southwestern USA, but the menu has Mediterranean influences too.

Breakfast is served until 11 am and highlights include Huevos Rancheros, the Warm 9 Grain Cereal, and a variety of freshly prepared Italian-style frittata omelettes. At lunch, try one of their freshly prepared deli sandwiches served with a choice of soup, salad or tortilla chips.

The dinner menu, served from 5 pm, features corn-crusted pizza and calzone, fresh pasta dishes and a range of chicken, beef, pork, and lamb based entrees. Marvel at the artistic presentation of the Sweet Potato and Corn Chowder starter garnished with red chile paint and sour cream in the shape of a desert cactus.

There is a selection of vegetarian dishes too such as Spicy Black Bean Burritos, Southwestern Polenta with Ratatouille, and Roasted Vegetable & Shaved Asiago Pizza. Coyotes also has an extensive wine list featuring a range of new world wines.

Above all, if you appreciate freshly prepared food that is both healthy and delicious, then you won't be disappointed by Coyotes. Reservations are advisable, particularly in peak season.
