Barpa Bill's Souvlaki, Banff

Hidden away between Saltlik and the Lux cinema on Banff's Bear Street, it's easy to miss, but for locals and others in the know, Barpa Bill's is one of the highlights of Banff's food scene.

Barpa Bill's serves Greek fast food and its specialty is souvlaki, a flame grilled skewer of chicken, pork or lamb served in a warm pita with tzatziki, rich with garlic flavours. Other menu items include chicken or lamb gyros, spanakopita, dolmades, poutine, burgers and salads.

The place is small and caters to a steady stream of food-to-go customers, but there are a few seats at the counter for those wanting to eat in.

Service is efficient, with food cooked to order and called for collection at the counter when ready.

The freshly prepared tasty food, quick service and good value mean there's no shortage of people recommending Barpa Bill's as the place to go for a quick bite to eat.

History
Barpa Bill's was opened by Bill and Andreas Chrisanthopoulos in 1997. The name came about when a family member suggested the idea of naming the restaurant 'Barpa', meaning 'Uncle' in Greek. By combining Barpa with the name of the original owner, Bill, Barpa Bills was born.
