St James's Gate Olde Irish Pub, BanffSituated just off Banff Avenue, the St James's Gate pub is popular with Banff's visitors and local workers alike, for beer and a bite to eat. This Irish-themed pub has a cosy atmosphere with large bench seats, and a roaring fire in winter months. What strikes you on walking in is the sheer number of beer pump handles lined up along the bar. In fact, the St. James's Gate serves over 33 beers on tap and 20 bottled, along with 20 types of single malt scotch and 8 Irish whiskeys. There truly is something here for everyone, and the food is good too, with an eclectic menu that includes Stuffed Baby Yorkies (miniature Yorkshire Puddings stuffed with shaved beef and horseradish cream), Guinness, Crab & Asparagus Soup, Turkey, Strawberry & Brie Sandwich, Irish Stew, and Steak, Guinness & Mushroom Pie. Happy Hour is 5 pm to 7 pm daily, and there is live music entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays from 9:30 pm. Hours: Sun - Thu: 11 am - 1 am; Fri & Sat: 11 am - 2 am
